Dear Reader:
Last Friday night shortly after we mailed out the weekly newsletter the NIMDA virus
returned forcing us to shut down our servers for 2 days completely frustrating all of us.
For those of you who tried to access the website, my apologies. If you would like to take
a return trip to those links, just click here to read LAST week's newsletter
online.
Fall is a great time to think about starting a reading group. Ever had the urge to do this
and not sure how to get started? Or, are you in a group but longing for some direction?
Take a look at ReadingGroupGuides.com
where there's always great advice and ideas.
On AuthorsOnTheWeb.com this month
Homer Hickam is our Author of the Month. His new one is SKY OF STONE. On this
website be sure to take a look at our listings of what's hot. We also have a great group
of author websites for you to explore.
A few readers wrote last week asking us if we could suggest some titles to better explain Islam and the Middle East. Jennifer
Abbots pulled together a list that we think will be a great way to get started.
We've got a full lineup this week. I hope you enjoy it. And PLEASE let us have slayed the
little NIMBA virus once and for all! As one of my friends wrote last week --- "hang
in there!"
This Week's Question
In early September we heard that the city of Chicago had designated TO KILL A
MOCKINGBIRD as a book that they would all read. This got us thinking about our QUESTION OF
THE WEEK: If we as a nation were reading one book, what do you think it should be? Respond
to question of the week by sending mail to: Question@bookreporter.com
Last Week's Question
Last week we asked if the recent terrorist attacks had impact on your reading. Read what
others had to say here.
Word of Mouth
Last week Rudy Guiliani told us it was okay to laugh again. This week I am
telling you I want you to start reading again and then telling us about it. Need more
details on how to participate in Word of Mouth? Click here.
Send your replies to WordOfMouth@bookreporter.com.
