September 14, 2001

Dear Reader:

In light of this week's tragic events around the country, we will not be doing our regular weekly update at Bookreporter.com. We know that you, like us, have eyes directed elsewhere at this time.

We feel very lucky that our staff and offices were not immediately impacted by this tragedy, and thank those of you who reached out to us during the week with kind words and inquiries about our safety. Our hearts go out to the victims and families, and we offer our admiration to the brave men and women who are toiling in the rescue operations.

Often words can help explain seemingly inexplicable tragedy. With this in mind, we have compiled a list of books on grief...and recovery, with titles that are appropriate for adults, parents, teens and children. We hope that this list can provide some suggestions to get you started.

We also would like to suggest that you donate what you would have spent on books this week to a charity that will support the relief efforts and rescue operations. We have a link to Amazon's Red Cross donation program on the front screen of Bookreporter.com, which is just one option you may want to consider.

Also, we are now "flying a flag" on the front screen of each of our websites as a symbol of our united stand with the rest of America.

At this time, we plan to be back with our regular update next Friday. Till then, stay safe, and reach out and hug your loved ones just a tad tighter.

All best,

--- Carol Fitzgerald (Carol@Bookreporter.com) for The Book Report Network
