Dear Reader:
I am a news junkie and devour the news daily both online and offline. Last week I was
intrigued by the story of the emergency rescue of the doctor at the South Pole. The news
accounts had me craving more information about Antarctica and why a rescue there was so
hazardous. It sent me to my bookshelves to read by ICE BOUND by
Dr. Jerri Nielsen, the doctor who had been rescued at the same location in 1999. If you
have not read this book, I highly recommend it.
The connection between current events and books we love got us thinking. What we decided:
When a news story prompts us to think of a related book, we will share it with you in a
new feature --- Newsworthy. This week, TBRN Co-Founder Jesse Kornbluth Tim
O'Brien's IN THE LAKE OF THE WOODS and relates it to Bob Kerrey. Curious to know
the connection? Click here.
The launch of Newsworthy prompts our Question of the Week.
