New Year = New Books and Authors to Share with You!

We hope that 2015 is off to a wonderful start for you! Many of us are braving the cold as we get back to work, responsibilities and the gym --- the latter being a necessary evil after way too many Christmas cookies and couch time. January also is a time for taking stock of life. For many, the holiday break provided downtime to think about what really matters --- and ways to make those things more a part of our lives. We've been talking in the office about setting realistic personal goals for the year --- not resolutions, but things that enrich our lives and provide fulfillment.

With a plan to inspire you, we look forward to sharing our favorite Christian and faith-related books and authors with you through reviews, interviews, features and more!

We start off the new year with a special contest for Tracie Peterson’s STEADFAST HEART, the opening installment of her Brides of Seattle series. Spoiled 20-year-old Lenore Fulcher isn’t exactly picky, but she certainly believes a marriage should be built on true love. Her father, however, is tired of the wait and wants to marry her off to his business partner --- a man 17 years her senior. When young lawyer Kolbein Booth arrives in town looking for his sister, Lenore is smitten, but she may not have long to find out if this is the kind of love she has been searching for. We’re celebrating the recent release of STEADFAST HEART by giving 15 readers the chance to win a copy of the book. To enter, please fill out this form by Thursday, February 19th at noon ET.

In our latest monthly contest, we’re giving away 10 copies of Courtney Walsh’s PAPER HEARTS, which is now available in stores. In this contemporary romance, readers are introduced to Abigail Pressman, a business owner in Love Park, a picturesque town at the base of the Rockies. For years, Abigail has resisted the efforts of the Valentine Volunteers, a local group that stamps mail with romantic postmark. Distracted by a new landlord, Abigail unwittingly becomes drafted into the Volunteers as she battles her feelings for the handsome man. Meanwhile, a series of love notes penned on paper hearts by an anonymous couple takes a surprising turn, affecting Abigail’s view on love. To enter, please fill out this form by Thursday, February 19th at noon ET.

We have two special features to share with you this month. First, we highlight Chris Fabry’s latest book, THE SONG, a novelization of the 2014 film that will be available February 10th on DVD and Digital HD. For years, Jed King has lived in the shadows of the songs and mistakes of his famous father. It seems as though Jed may never find his own song --- until he meets Rose. But with his new will to love comes fame, and with fame comes temptation. Will he fall to the same temptations that ruined his father? Click here to read more about the book and movie.

Our other special feature highlights PRICE OF PRIVILEGE, the conclusion to Jessica Dotta’s riveting historical trilogy. Picking up where MARK OF DISTINCTION left off, this latest novel finds Julia Elliston in full knowledge of her birthright and prepared to outwit Chance Macy at his own game. But when Macy changes tactics with a highly risky ploy, all of London becomes embroiled in the scandal of the century: Macy’s claim that his lost bride is Lord Pierson’s daughter. Though Julia knows the truth, Macy’s web of deceit seems to only grow larger as she faces her most dangerous trial yet. Click here for more info on the book.

Finally, enjoy our first nine new reviews of 2015. These fiction and nonfiction offerings include WAITING ON GOD: Strength for Today and Hope for Tomorrow by Charles F. Stanley, MASTERING LIFE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE: 10 Biblical Strategies for a Lifetime of Purpose by Robert J. Morgan and SISTER EVE, PRIVATE EYE: A Divine Private Detective Agency Mystery by Lynne Hinton.

Have a wonderful end of January/beginning of February. We'll see you next month!

CONTAGIOUS DISCIPLE MAKING: Leading Others on a Journey of Discovery by David Watson and Paul Watson (Christian Life)
It is hard to deny that today’s world can seem apathetic toward Christians. In a world full of people whose indifference is greater than their desire to know Christ, how can we dream of growing the church? In CONTAGIOUS DISCIPLE MAKING, David Watson and Paul Watson map out a simple method that has sparked an explosion of homegrown churches in the United States and around the world. THE GRAND PARADOX: The Messiness of Life, the Mystery of God and the Necessity of Faith by Ken Wytsma (Christian Life/Spiritual Growth)
Following Jesus is done --- can only be done --- in the messiness of this world into which we were all born. Yet many Christians expect the walk of faith to be easier, neater and relatively devoid of hassles. So perhaps it’s time for a frank conversation about the true nature of Christian faith. Maybe there are many desperately in need of a clear dialogue about how our greatest joy is found in our pursuit of God. In THE GRAND PARADOX, Ken Wytsma seeks to help readers understand that although God can be mysterious, He is in no way absent. Reviewed by Michele Howe.
