Springing into Summer Reading
Happy June! We are inching towards my favorite day of the year --- June 21st. Why? Because it's the day with the most daylight. I realize that I am happier when the light is bright for most of the day; I think twice a year I need to switch hemispheres.

Father's Day is right around the corner, and it's time to think about a present/card if you have not done this already. We’d like to remind you of our special roundup of fiction and nonfiction titles that will make perfect gifts for dad on Father’s Day (or any day!). Click here to see our suggestions.

We have lots to share with you this month, including FOUR contests that will give you the chance to win some wonderful books. In our first contest, we’re giving away 50 copies of THE QUARRYMAN'S BRIDE, the second installment in Tracie Peterson's Land of Shining Water historical romance series. Separated by duty, yet bonded by love, can Emmalyne and Tavin dare to dream that God could heal a decade-long wound and change the hearts of those keeping them apart? To enter, please fill out this form by Tuesday, July 16th at noon ET.

Next up is STEALING THE PREACHER, in which a preacher is forced off a train and delivered to a “retired” outlaw’s daughter for her birthday. Is it possible this stolen preacher ended up right where he belongs? We’re giving 50 readers the opportunity to win a copy of Karen Witemeyer's latest historical romance. To enter, please fill out this form by Tuesday, July 16th at noon ET.

We are also celebrating the release of Randy Singer's latest legal thriller with a special contest that will give 10 readers the chance to win a copy of DEAD LAWYERS TELL NO TALES, in which an ex-con-turned-lawyer becomes the target of a killer who has a vendetta against the law firm he has recently joined. To enter, please fill out this form by Tuesday, July 16th at noon ET.

UNDENIABLY YOURS by Becky Wade is the latest book we’re giving away in our monthly contest. When Meg Cole’s father dies unexpectedly, she’s forced to return home to Texas --- and to Whispering Creek Ranch --- to take up the reins of an empire she’s never wanted. Can the handsome manager of her father’s Thoroughbred farm help Meg face her fears and embrace new hopes for the future? If you'd like to win one of 25 copies of the book, please fill out this form by Tuesday, July 16th at noon ET.

We have three new study guides to tell you about. The first is for A SIMPLE SONG by Melody Carlson, which explores the complicated relationship of an Amish teenager and her strict parents. Katrina loves to sing, and she feels that going on the TV show "American Star" might be the way to help her family out of a crisis, even if it means breaking away from her community. Click here for the guide.

SLOW MOON RISING, the third book in Eva Marie Everson’s romance series, centers on the Claybourne family on Cedar Key. The five Claybourne women search the past and confront the truth, leading them on unique paths through heartbreak, misunderstandings and pain, but ultimately bringing them to reconciliation and love. Click here for the guide.

Our final study guide of the month focuses on Diana Wallis Taylors new historical romance, CLAUDIA, WIFE OF PONTIUS PILATE, which tells the unknown story of Pontius Pilate and his wife Claudia as they face the controversy and turmoil of early Judea and the unrest of the Roman Empire. Click here for the guide.

Among our featured titles this month is A MOST PECULIAR CIRCUMSTANCE by Jen Turano. Here, readers are introduced to Arabella Beckett, who is in the business of assisting other women --- but she’s not in the habit of accepting help herself. Private investigator Theodore Wilder is just as stubborn as she is. Has this feisty suffragette finally met her match? Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt.

In Carol Cox’s TROUBLE IN STORE, ex-governess Melanie Ross must embrace her last resort: the Arizona mercantile she inherited from her cousin. But Caleb Nelson is positive he inherited the mercantile. Even as they contest ownership, Melanie and Caleb are forced to band together when someone starts sabotaging their business. And when a body shows up on their doorstep, there’s deeper trouble in store. Read more about the book and an excerpt.

GRACE’S PICTURES, which marks the beginning of Cindy Thomson’s Ellis Island series, tells the story of young Irish immigrant Grace McCaffery, who struggles to make ends meet in New York City so that she can bring her mother over to America. As she works to realize her dreams, Grace must put her faith in unlikely sources to learn the true meaning of courage and forgiveness. Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt.

Finally, among our 11 reviews this month are ONCE UPON A TIME: Discovering Our Forever After Story, in which Debbie Macomber uses the structure of a story to illustrate God’s hand in our lives; HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander, a no-holds-barred autobiography that chronicles the life of Phil Robertson, the original Duck Commander and “Duck Dynasty” star, from early childhood through the founding of a family business; and PASTORS' WIVES by Lisa Takeuchi Cullen, which follows three women whose lives converge and intertwine at a Southern evangelical megachurch.

Here’s hoping that your summer gets off to a lovely start and that you find some time to sit back, relax, enjoy the sunshine and, most importantly, READ. See you next month!
