Happy Easter!
As we approach the holiest week of the year, we celebrate --- as we do each year here at FaithfulReader.com --- with our roundup of Easter-themed titles. Here you will find books that are perfect for the Lenten and Easter seasons, including inspiring devotionals, thought-provoking fiction and nonfiction, and titles you’ll want to consider giving to the younger readers in your life. Click here to see the feature.

The History Channel is currently airing “The Bible,” a 10-hour miniseries that is being shown in two-hour increments every Sunday night throughout the month of March, with the finale being broadcast on Easter Sunday. The series
retells stories from the Scriptures for a whole new generation, featuring unforgettable stories from the Books of Genesis to Revelation. “The Bible” was created by producer Mark Burnett and features an international cast that includes his wife, Roma Downey of “Touched by an Angel” fame.

In celebration of this very special television event, the publisher FaithWords has released a novel and a devotional that are based on the series. Read more about the novel here, and take a look at our review of the devotional here. In her review, Lynda Lee Schab calls it “a book to treasure. Keep it on your coffee table or nightstand to pick up again and again. The heartfelt truths and thought-provoking meditations will stir your soul. The spectacular photographs will awe and delight…. If your heart is open, this devotional has the power to inspire you to take a closer look at the Bible and, ultimately, Jesus Christ.”

Our latest monthly contest book is LOVE IN THE BALANCE, Regina Jennings’s second historical romance following her debut novel, SIXTY ACRES AND A BRIDE. Molly Lovelace dreams of a life without cares in Lockhart, Texas. She also dreams of wrangler Bailey Garner. Then a mysterious stranger sweeps into town --- and into her life --- promising Molly a glorious future together. Forced to choose between a handsome cowboy and a debonair tycoon, what’s a Texas girl to do? If you’d like to be one of the 30 readers who will win a copy of the book, all you have to do is fill out this form by Tuesday, April 9th at noon ET.

We’re spotlighting some wonderful titles in this month’s update. First up is a re-release of LEOTA’S GARDEN by Francine Rivers, which was originally published in 1999. Leota’s garden was once a place of beauty, where flowers bloomed and hope thrived. It was her refuge from the deep wounds inflicted by a devastating war, her sanctuary where she prayed to a loving God. Now 84 years old, Leota is alone and her beloved garden is in ruins. Then God brings a wind of change through unlikely means. But can the devastation wrought by keeping painful family secrets be repaired before she runs out of time? Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt. According to reviewer Michele Howe, “Rivers does a fabulous job here of digging deep into the hearts and souls of her characters, and allowing them to dig around inside themselves before they reach outward and upward for healing.”

Gina Holmes, the bestselling author of CROSSING OCEANS and DRY AS RAIN, is back with her third novel, WINGS OF GLASS. Eighteen-year-old Penny Carson is swept off her feet by a handsome farmhand named Trent Taylor. Before the ink even dries on their marriage certificate, he hits her for the first time --- and it won't be the last. When Trent is injured in a welding accident, he has no choice but to finally allow Penny to take a job cleaning houses. Here she meets two women from very different worlds who will teach her to live and laugh again. Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt.

This month, we have an interview with Mary Connealy, whose Trouble in Texas historical romance series debuts with SWEPT AWAY. Ruthy nearly drowned before being rescued by Luke Stone. Now he’s left her little choice but to travel with him until they reach the nearest town. But is Ruthy any safer with this handsome cowboy than she would’ve been had she stayed on her own? In the Q&A, Connealy talks about the book’s deepest theme, explains why she loves writing about cowboys, and more.

For those of you in book clubs, we’ve added a new study guide for MOONLIGHT MASQUERADE, a regency romance by Ruth Axtell. French by birth but enjoying life in 1813 as a widowed English countess, Lady Celine Wexham is in the unique position of being able to help those in need --- or to spy for the notorious Napoleon Bonaparte. Rees Phillips of the British Foreign Office is sent to pose as the countess's butler and discover where her true loyalties lie. But the longer he is in her fashionable townhouse, the more his staunch loyalty to the Crown begins to waver as he falls under Lady Wexham's spell. Be sure to read more about the book, an excerpt, and, of course, the study guide.

We’re also featuring TWO books by Denise Hildreth Jones that have just released. In SECRETS OVER SWEET TEA, we are introduced to Scarlett Jo Newberry, Grace Shepherd and Zach Craig, who are about to learn the hard way that secrets usually spill out when we least expect it and make a mess out of everything. As the lives of this boisterous pastor’s wife, polished news anchor, and beleaguered divorce attorney intersect, scandal threatens to topple their carefully constructed worlds. Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt.

The second title is her nonfiction offering, RECLAIMING YOUR HEART: A Journey Back to Laughing, Loving, and Living. A failed relationship, a health crisis, a job loss, the death of a loved one --- all can cause us to hide out, go numb, and give up. It happens to most of us at one point or another. For author and Bible study teacher Denise Hildreth Jones, it happened in the wake of her devastating divorce. But she fought desperately to reclaim her God-designed heart, and now, in her transparent, authentic style, Denise challenges you to do the same. Click here to read more about the book and here for an excerpt.

And finally, our review coverage for this month includes DESPERATE: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe by Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson, ALTAR EGO: Becoming Who God Says You Are by Craig Groeschel, SHATTERED: Alaskan Courage, Book Two by Dani Pettrey and PICTURE PERFECT: Weddings by Design, Book 1 by Janice Thompson.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy Easter. May you have time to read and reflect during this sacred time.
