Conn Iggulden
Fast Facts:
- Conn was born in London in 1971 to a family of storytellers and lovers of literature. His great grandfather was a Seannachie (a bard from the Scottish Highlands who preserved and repeated the traditions of the tribes), and his father was a school teacher. As a young child, Conn's mother taught him history by telling it to him in the form of stories with dates.
- With the intent to become a writer, Conn studied English at London University. He taught the subject for seven years at a Roman Catholic high school in London, where he became head of the department before changing careers to write full time.
- Conn is the author of the Emperor series, four historical fiction novels based on the life of Julius Caesar. He has also written the nonfiction bestseller, THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR BOYS, which will be released in the US in May, 2007.
- Some of Conn's favorite authors are Patrick O'Brien, Bernard Cornwell, George McDonald Fraser, James Clavell, David Gemmell, Peter F. Hamilton, Wilbur Smith, C. S. Forester, Robin Hobb, Stephen King, David Feintuch, Isaac Asimov, Peter Pook, Raymond Feist, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card, Jeffrey Archer, Dick Francis and Jerome K. Jerome.
- Currently, Conn lives in Hertfordshire, England with his wife and two sons.
