THE BOURNE BETRAYAL by Eric Van Lustbader

Jason Bourne takes a mission to rescue his only friend in the CIA, Martin Lindros, who disappeared in Africa while tracking shipments of yellowcake uranium. Once safely back in America, Lindros persuades Bourne to help track the money trail of terrorists buying the nuclear material in Odessa.

But once there, Bourne is hampered by confusing flashbacks of unfamiliar places and events and he wonders: Is someone brainwashing him in order to throw him off the trail? Worse, is the man he saved in Africa really Martin Lindros? Now, Bourne is alone gathering evidence while trying to stay one step ahead of the terrorists who won't let anyone stand in their way of destroying the U.S.

DON'T MAKE A SCENE by Valerie Block

As the director of a Greenwich Village revival cinema, and a single woman about to turn 40 who has watched everyone else move on, Diane Kurasik is reminded daily of how her life diverges from those of the stars of the silver screen. Vladimir Hurtado Padrón has troubles of his own: although he fled Cuba a decade earlier, he still can't convince his estranged wife in Havana to grant him a divorce. When Diane meets and falls for Vladimir, she becomes acutely aware of how far things are veering from the script. Would Ingrid Bergman put up with this?

Valerie Block uses tart humor and a deceptively light touch in this fiercely intelligent look at how the movies shape and haunt us, and what happens when the eternal allure of classic movies collides with the daily indignities of contemporary life. DON'T MAKE A SCENE is a refreshing comedy about finding fascination, irritation and joy in unexpected places.

HARD CALL: Great Decisions and the Extraordinary People Who Made Them, by John McCain with Mark Salter

In HARD CALL, acclaimed authors John McCain and Mark Salter describe the anatomy of great decisions in history by telling the remarkable stories of men and women who have exemplified composure, wisdom, and intellect in the face of life's toughest decisions. The authors identify six qualities typically represented in the best decisions: Awareness. Timing. Foresight. Confidence. Humility. Inspiration. These qualities are personified by the exceptional individuals in this book, each of whom made a hard call.

Woven into these stories are John McCain's own views on the process and art of decision-making and examples of the hard calls we face in our lives. "When I assess a decision," McCain writes, "I want to know all I can about the character of the decision maker before I examine the properties of the decision, its outcome or how it was arrived at."

HARD CALL is a testament to the people whose choices serve as a beacon for us all.

A KILLER'S KISS by William Lashner

You want to know what deceit tastes like? It's sweet. Like honey. Charged with electricity. Laced with amnesia. It's why adultery will never go out of fashion, why sincerity fails, why sex with strangers is more fun than ever it ought to be. It is the very taste of old love reclaimed, which might be the sweetest deceit of all.

There's nothing easier --- or more dangerous --- than falling into bed with an old lover. Especially when you're Victor Carl.

Julia's husband has been murdered, her fingerprints are all over the crime scene, and $1.7 million in cash is missing. Julia is suddenly in desperate need of a fall guy. Is that why she turned up on Victor's doorstep with her lipstick fresh and her heels high on the night of the murder? It's all enough to make Victor doubt the healing power of love. Suddenly, Victor Carl, a man who has spent a lifetime making bad decisions for the worst of reasons, is no longer fighting to rekindle a lost love. He's fighting to save his life.

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER by Mindy Schneider

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER chronicles 13-year-old Mindy's adventures at a rainy, rundown, wildly unsupervised camp in Maine called Kin-A-Hurra, which is nothing like the fun, kosher (!), sun-soaked Eden that owner Saul Rattner advertised when he met with Mindy's parents in their New Jersey home.

Mindy spends her days both desperately trying to blend in with the other girls, and to stand out and win the affection of dreamy Kenny Uber whose heart belongs to her bunkmate, Dana. Mindy's intense infatuation with Kenny makes a possible love connection with charming geek, Philip Selig, seem impossible. With his social awkwardness, wit, and intelligence, Philip seems the perfect match for Mindy, but she initially (and sometimes cruelly) flees his advances. That is, until she almost loses him after rejecting him in front of his parents during his makeshift Bar Mitazvah. As camp draws to a close, Mindy realizes that as she so ardently focused on landing the perfect guy and longed for her first kiss, she unexpectedly stumbled across something infinitely grander: herself.

THE REINCARNATIONIST by M.J. Rose

THE REINCARNATIONIST is equal parts modern-day thriller, historical fiction and love story. With one foot in present-day Rome and New York and another in Rome some 1,600 years ago, the story is about two worlds consumed by the fires of intrigue and passion.

Photojournalist Josh Ryder survives a terrorist's bomb, only to be haunted by near hallucinatory memories of a past life in Rome as a pagan priest whose dangerous congress with Sabina, one of the Vestal Virgins, poses a transgression so serious the lovers will face a certain death if exposed. Scents of jasmine and sandalwood and images of furtive liaisons and violence descend on Josh at will, pulling him to an ancient yet strangely familiar Roman burial chamber harboring the remains of a woman clutching a wooden box.

A trail of present-day murders takes readers deeper into a labyrinth at whose heart lies the enigma of a collection of ancient gems or memory stones whose origins trace back to both ancient Egypt and India. The stones' promise to "assist the wearer in reaching his next incarnation" sets the ancient and modern worlds on a collision course.

SLIPKNOT by Linda Greenlaw

In her bestselling nonfiction book ALL FISHERMEN ARE LIARS, Linda Greenlaw confessed a desire to write fiction --- and readers responded with an enthusiastic "Please do!" At last, she satisfies their hunger with this sharp-witted, compulsively readable mystery, the first in a series featuring marine investigator Jane Bunker.

When Jane moves back to the sleepy Maine fishing community where she was born, it's to escape the seamy crime scenes and unsavory characters that crossed her path in Miami. Surely whatever crimes are committed in touristy, idyllic Green Haven won't involve anything as nasty as what she saw in Florida. It's a bit of a shock, then, when Nick Dow, the town drunk, turns up dead, and it's not the simple accident that everyone assumes it to be. Jane soon discovers that Dow wasn't even a drunk --- it was all an act. But why? And what does it have to do with a heated town hall meeting about fishing rights and paternity suits? The more Jane digs, the more confused she gets. Only two things are certain: Nothing is what it seems; and the whole town is in each other's business. But it's not until Jane impulsively hops on a boat with the killer --- a boat that suddenly heads out to sea --- that things become downright dangerous…

SPOOK COUNTRY by William Gibson

Tito is in his early twenties. Born in Cuba, he speaks fluent Russian, lives in one room in a NoLita warehouse, and does delicate jobs involving information transfer.

Hollis Henry is an investigative journalist, on assignment from a magazine called Node. Node doesn't exist yet, which is fine; she's used to that. But it seems to be actively blocking the kind of buzz that magazines normally cultivate before they start up. Really actively blocking it. It's odd, even a little scary, if Hollis lets herself think about it much. Which she doesn't; she can't afford to.

Milgrim is a junkie. A high-end junkie, hooked on prescription antianxiety drugs. Milgrim figures he wouldn't survive twenty-four hours if Brown, the mystery man who saved him from a misunderstanding with his dealer, ever stopped supplying those little bubble packs. What exactly Brown is up to Milgrim can't say, but it seems to be military in nature. At least, Milgrim's very nuanced Russian would seem to be a big part of it, as would breaking into locked rooms.

Bobby Chombo is a "producer," and an enigma. In his day job, Bobby is a troubleshooter for manufacturers of military navigation equipment. He refuses to sleep in the same place twice. He meets no one. Hollis Henry has been told to find him.
