The 2003 Anthony Awards

The 2003 Anthony Awards were presented on Sunday, October 19th during the closing event of Bouchercon 34 in Las Vegas. The awards are named in honor of Anthony Boucher, long-time mystery critic for the New York Times who helped found the Mystery Writers of America organization.

The winners included:

Best Novel
CITY OF BONES by Michael Connelly (Little, Brown and Company)

Best First Novel
IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER by Julia Spencer-Fleming (St. Martin's Minotaur)

Best Paperback Original
FATAL TRUTH by Robin Burcell (Avon)

Best Critical Work 
THEY DIED IN VAIN: Overlooked, Underappreciated and Forgotten Mystery Novels, edited by Jim Huang (Crum Creek Press)

Best Short Story
