With some authors I love, I just get the book the day it comes out. Other times authors, such as Harlan Corban or Patricia Cornwall - whom I love to read - I feel the need to read the blurb. Of course it ends up be intriging enough that I stop what I am currently reading to start this new one. So yes, I love the blurbs - and have actually found new authors just that way.

Romantic Times; Nora Roberts, Robyn Carr, Sherryl Woods and many others. Although I also read the back cover or inside book cover for story description and a lovely picture helps.

My favorite book blurbs are by fictitious people/publications or the author of the book (like Ellen Degeneres on her most recent, Seriously...I'm Kidding). That tells me that it's a funny book and I'm likely to enjoy it!

It truly does not matter who wrote the blurb. I usually know which books I am going to purchase however, sometimes if the blurb makes the book sound interesting, I will buy the book.

I read several bookish newsletters every week and by far the one I find the most compelling is BookReporter. Every week I find so many titles and authors that HAVE to be added to my "to read" list. I have page after page of books to be read and it does grow every week. Every book that comes from the BookReport reviews has been great. Apparently the reviewers for BookReporter and I have similar tastes.
