The latest book I read and gave away to our local Senior Center's library was "The Devil's Light" by Richard North Patterson. I read it about 2 weeks prior to the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Patterson's story is all about a plot to set off an atomic bomb on the 9/11 anniversary. The story line and all the real life publicity that build up in the media seemed to be running in parallel lines. This is a book that makes one really think. I was on the edge of my chair.

Judy Lauer
"Mathematics for the Million" by Lancelot Hogben. I have no idea where it came from (an oldie from 1940) but I had posted it to one of my online book swapping groups and someone asked for it. Although I do not buy as many books as I used to, if it is one by a favorite author, it tends to stay with me. Others, especially hardcovers, are usually donated to the public library (if they don't want them for their collection, they are sold at the library book sale); I usually swap the softcovers.

I gave away the book "A Reliable Wife" by Robert Goolrick. I think this is one of those books that you're either going to love or hate.... and unfortunately, I hated it. I can't say that about most books, but if I hadn't been participating in a book club to read this, I never would have finished it, much less gotten past page 11. So I gave it to my local library for their booksale ;)

I have a rather large family and used to give each member a book at Christmas time. But last year I decided to, instead, give them each a book on their birthdays. My nephew lives across the street, so I walked the biography "Trace Adkins" over to him (last week) for his 21st birthday! (Sept. 25, 2011) I have a large collection of my own books to give as gifts and I work at a used bookstore in our local library, so I get treasures there also.
