What book do you feel most guilty about not having read?

I have not read many of the classics, so I decided to read WAR AND PEACE this summer. Needless to say, I did not accomplish my goal. I discovered so many interesting books for both my Nook and the Kindle that I spent this summer reading these new books. I can justify my reading by telling myself that these books will be classics someday soon and I will be ahead of other readers since I have already read them.

War and Peace

Patricia R.
Remembrance of Things Past, by Marcel Proust

THE HELP. I got a copy in an online trade and it's been sitting here in The Pile for months. It's not the type of book I usually read and for whatever reason I'm pretty sure I won't like it...and then I'll REALLY feel guilty!

Audrey A.
Pride and Prejudice Gone with the Wind

Lisa
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, by Stieg Larsson

There isn't one I feel "guilty" about. But there are some classics I've never gotten to that I feel I should get to one day --- War and Peace and Grapes of Wrath probably top that list.

Rena T.
Middlemarch, by George Eliot

Michelle N.
The Help --- everyone raves about it and it's even a movie now, but I just couldn't get into it!

Patti P.
To Kill a Mockingbird. I never had to read it in school --- it's next on my list though!

Ellen
I sometimes feel like I should read more nonfiction, but for me, reading is more of an escape and entertainment, and therefore I love my fiction!

Jennifer
A Thousand Splendid Suns. I purchased this book in Europe when it was first released and never started reading it. I have heard wonderful reviews for quite a long time and and unfortunately for me, that is the kiss of death. I have a fear of being disappointed and am putting it off, but feel that I am missing out. Such a dilemma!!

Gaymarie H.
Atlas Shrugged --- started it three times but i put it down the same amount of times.

I have read THE HELP; however, I procrastinated reading this book, placing it at the bottom of my pile multiple times. Once I began reading it, I kept wishing I had read it sooner. This is definitely a book EVERYONE should read!

Anna Karenina.....I read almost all of it about 4-6 years ago (when it was Oprah's pick) but got sidetracked by a long vacation and never got back to finishing the last 50 pages. I know I should pick it up again and finish it, but there are so many other books to read!

Chris
Pride and Prejudice

Bernice S.
The Autobiography of Mark Twain, Vol. 1

Shannon J.
Pride and Prejudice --- it's a classic and I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. It's too British for my taste. It is my sister-in-law's favorite book, I've tried and tried, and I just can't do it!

Berna L.
A biography of Walter Cronkite. I still plan to read it even though I purchased it long before he passed away.

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. My son loved this book when he read it in high school and recommended it to me. I've started it a few times over the past couple of years, but never stick with it...it keeps getting shoved to the bottom of my "to-read" pile. Maybe this year...

That would have to be The Kite Runner. I own 3 copies of the book (both my kids had to read it in high school) and I have never picked it up. I know I will get to it eventually, but, until then, guilt eats away at me every time I see the title.

Kathy M.
Mary, Called Magdalene by Margaret George. My best friend gave me this book and I can't even get halfway through it. I know she is anxious to hear my opinion, but...

Among the several that are stacked up, I feel most guilty about not having read the newest books from my favorite authors --- BONES OF A FEATHER by Carolyn Haines, DOMINANCE by Will Lavender, IN THE SANCTUARY OF OUTCASTS by Neil White...so many!!!
