This year, our book group read Pete Hamill's NORTH RIVER. He is one of my favorite authors. His love affair with NYC is intoxicating. This is the story of a lonely doctor whose estranged daughter leaves her son at her father's NYC home in the dead of winter. Beautifully written characters who make you ache with their heartbreak make this a novel that I want to share with every reader I know.
