Growing up, my "rite of passage" was my library card --- when I was old enough to get one, I was old enough to ride the city bus to the library (Salem, Oregon). I couldn't have been more than 6 years!

That would have to be where the woman thought she was trying out for Quill & Ink and was trying out for grave and spell, I think.

I just look forward to reading Word of Mouth each week, wondering about fellow readers who give higher or lower ratings to books that I have read. Also, watching for repeat listings often gives me a heads up for a good book to read --- like MARLEY & ME.

I'm just always thrilled by the wonderful new creative minds writing new books.

When I won ARC copy of MAYBE A MIRACLE by Brian Strause and my review was posted on the site. This was only a couple of months after I started visiting the site regularly, so it was pretty exciting!

My favorite Bookreporter memory is my first visit. 2 or 3 years ago, I "popped" in to read an interview you had with Stephen White, which I had heard about on his website. I got here and couldn't leave, I think my first visit lasted like 2 hours. I've been a huge fan of Bookreporter ever since!

In one of my book clubs, we were curious about how many readers actually "laugh out loud" while reading. I e-mailed Carol F. from this website to suggest that it be a poll for readers to answer. She did, and nearly a thousand readers answered! (Result: Most do, and I was in the minority in not laughing out loud). Such fun!!

I think I knew that I had found the perfect newsletter when I first read about Steve Berry. I hadn't been a member long when I won two books and next, a gift basket. That told me that there really were people out there reading what I thought about books. I would still be a member without the actual gifts, but that is a very sweet memory for me as I'd been a member only a short time. Now I am firmly convinced that everyone at BookReporter loves the written word as much as I do and I look at the newsletter each week like a gift to open --- bringing me more exciting new authors and introducing me sometimes to older ones I might have passed up otherwise. Thank you so much for being there for all us readers, and congratulations on your 10 years.

When I received an advance reading copy of DIALOGUES by Stephen Spignese, I had completely forgotten that I had even requested it. The book was fantastic. Ever since then, I have looked forward to my bookreporter.com e-mail and anxiously look for the next advance copy offer.

I "won" a phone interview with Lorna Landvik several years ago. She is a local author, and was able to attend our bookclub meeting in person! What a thrill!

Many thanks, Bookreporter!

Bookreporter.com has become my own personal librarian. The volumes that are recommended, or rather rated, are how I plan my week and my trips to the bookstore. I love this and, of course, the contests are bonuses!!! I've become a "bookreporter.com dependent!"

I once responded to a question regarding my favorite fictional book based on an historical event. The book that stood out for me was ANDERSONVILLE by Robert Vaughan. Several days later, I received an e-mail by the author himself! I was skeptical at first that it was him. But he thanked me for my comments and offered to send me a copy of his latest book, which wasn't out at the time. I sent him my address and several weeks later, I did receive the book. The new book is titled BRANDYWINE'S WAR: BACK IN COUNTRY. That was so generous of him. I would have to say that this remains my favorite Bookreporter.com memory.

One of the ladies at our bookclub introduced us all to this site. I have received 3 free books from this site. Very exciting.

I also found bookcrossing.com and paperbackswap.com from this site from one of the surveys on "favorite websites other than bookreporter."

This is one of my favorite sites I visit regularly.
