What author(s) has you racing to the store to buy his or her book the day it comes out, (if you have not pre-ordered it already)?

[email protected]
Christina Schwartz, Katrina Kittle, Donna Cross, and Rosalind Miles.

[email protected]
That's easy. I anticipate the release of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's books weeks in advance, and Jennifer Cruise's novels are well worth a pre-order.

[email protected]
W.E.B. Griffin and David Lindsey.

[email protected]
Linda Howard, Jayne Ann Krentz, Mary Higgins Clark, Jennifer Cruise, and Janet Evanovich.

[email protected]
Lauren Bach. After reading her first book, I was among the first to buy and read her latest, Slow Hands, and will hurry to buy her next book. Another author whose next work I am anticipating is Brad Thor. His Lions of Lucerne was one of my better reads last year. I love Cherry Adair, Glenna McReynolds, Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockman, and Dara Joy.

[email protected]
I actually have quite a few authors that have me running to the bookstore when they issue a new novel. Here are my favorites: Anne Rice, Jeffery Deaver, James Patterson, Tess Gerritsen, Susanna Kearsley, and Maeve Binchy.

[email protected]
Diane Mott Davidson's series featuring Goldie Schulz, the caterer, is interesting, relaxing, and always a fun read! The characters are engaging and the mysteries are clever.

[email protected]
David Baldacci, Judith McNaught, and Jeffery Deaver.

[email protected]
The author who I order ahead and rush to buy is Christine Feehan. Anything she writes is great, but I can't wait for her next Dark book.

PS: Enough already of all the murder mystery books…I get enough reality from my newspaper. Lets have more romance and fantasy, PLEASE!!!!!!

[email protected]
Well two answers: I run to the bookstore whenever I know that there are books by Nancy Collins and now John Paul Allen (Gifted Trust)

[email protected]
Jan Karon and Rosamunde Pilcher (I hope the rumors of her retirement are just that - rumors!)

[email protected]
Tom Clancy, Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, Jack Higgins, Frederick Forsyth, Robert Ludlum, Clive Cussler, Ken Follett, Gale Lynds, Greg Iles, whoever is penning James Bond (currently Raymond Benson), and if there was ever another book by Ted Allbeury or A.J. Quinnell.

[email protected]
The author who has me running to the store is Phillip Margolin. I haven't read anything by Jonathan Kellerman, but it would be wonderful if I won a book by him and have it signed!

[email protected]
Anything and EVERYTHING by Ann Rule! She is the ultimate writer when it comes to true crime! I keep my eye out for anything with her name on it and have now gotten my daughter hooked on Ann's books as well.

[email protected]
Douglas Clegg and his new book The Hour Before Dark is the latest book I rushed out to buy as soon as it was released. I've been a fan ever since discovering him through the Internet and his free e-serial novel Naomi (which has since been published in paperback). I have since found copies of most of his other works, like Goat DanceBreeder, and Mischief. Why his books don't get the recognition to make the top ten is beyond me, as he is every bit as good as King and Koontz, two of my other favorite authors.

[email protected]
Anne McCaffrey is the author who gets me to the bookstore the day her new book is released. I've been reading her books for 28 years and eagerly await anything new. Her Dragonrider series is probably her best known, but I have also read all her other series and think they are just as well written.

[email protected]
Dean Koontz, who has also puzzled me with having a couple of his recent books released just after Christmas. Had they been available a few weeks earlier, I would have bought a few extra copies each time as gifts.

[email protected]
The authors that have me racing to the store the day their books come out (if I haven't already pre-ordered them) are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Anne Rice.

[email protected]
Douglas Clegg, Robert McCammon, Anne Rice, and, of course, Stephen King, are the authors I really watch for to see what they are coming out with next.

[email protected]
The following authors always send me rushing to the store to buy their books: Tim LaHaye/Jerry B. Jenkins, Janet Evanovich, Christine Feehan, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler, John Sandford, Thomas Perry, Dee Henderson, and Kay Hooper.

[email protected]
I love to read these authors: Sandra Brown, Patricia Cornwell, Sue Grafton, Anne Rice, Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson, John Grisham, and Michael Connelly. If they have a new book coming out, I have it pre-ordered.

[email protected]
Anything by John Irving has me running to the store.

[email protected]
Nora Roberts.

[email protected]
Margaret Atwood is the author whose books I can't wait to read. In my opinion, she is the most intelligent and articulate of modern women writers.

[email protected]
Janet Evanovich, Laurell K. Hamilton, Robert Crais, and Jennifer Cruise, in that order.

[email protected]
I ALWAYS pre-order Nevada Barr's latest book. Most of the time, I go to a local bookstore where she appears for a book signing, and the bookstore isn't too happy about the fact that I already have the book!

[email protected]
If I know something new is coming out by Pat Conroy, Barbara Kingsolver, Adriana Trigiani, or Nelson DeMille, I look to read it right away.

[email protected]
I have to say that Jodi Picoult is the author whose books I look forward to the most. Unlike other authors who sometimes disappoint readers after writing one or two good novels, Picoult manages to consistently deliver high quality book after book.

[email protected]
JK Rowling, Elizabeth George, Elizabeth Peters, and Anne Perry.

[email protected]
Authors whose books I race to buy: Anne Rivers Siddons, Toni Morrison, Isabel Allende, and Janet Finch (if her next book ever comes out!).

[email protected]
I can't wait for the next novel by Jean Auel and Clan of the Cave Bear Series.

[email protected]
John Grisham.

[email protected]
Any new fictional work by Margaret Atwood would certainly get me to the bookstore quickly. I wouldn't even need to know what it is about. I know I'll be getting quality no matter what. For fun and light reading, I really like Jane Green. I would want to get my hands on her new work as quickly as possible as well.

[email protected]
Alex Kava - such suspenseful novels, terrific characters...keeps me guessing up until the last page.
Debbie Macomber - light, easy reads...have yet to be disappointed!

[email protected]
It's Douglas Clegg. He has a great new one, The Hour Before Dark.

[email protected]
Anything by Anna Quindlen, Anita Shreve, or Carol Joyce Oates.

[email protected]
Douglas Clegg's newest, The Hour Before Dark, was a great, fast-paced read, with interesting characters and just enough horror to keep me reading. I can't wait for his next novel to be finished! Like Stephen King, Clegg has a knack to take a rather common situation (murder) and turn it into something heart stopping (horror).

[email protected]
Anne Rice. It's like a ritual that I'm looking forward to every October. After that, I'm able to look into my Christmas shopping, but until I've read the new Anne Rice novel, it's not the right time. What a treat to get it as soon as it's out here in Germany. A few years ago I had to wait 3-4 weeks for the order of the bookshop - an unbearable amount of time it seemed. Today I only have to wait one day for the postman.

[email protected]
I had to rush out to get the new Robert McCammon book, Speaks The Nightbird - it's been too long since he wrote one! Also, I was lucky enough to buy it at his signing - he was such a nice guy!

[email protected]
Richard Russo, Alice Hoffman, Ivan Doig, Pat Conroy and Jasper Fforde.

[email protected]
Just a note to say I wish there were more bookstores that would show Doug Clegg books in the same place that Stephen King books are featured. After all, he is just as talented, and it is time he is shown the respect that he deserves. Move over all you other horror writers…Doug has arrived. Also, The Hour Before Darkshould be made into a movie.

[email protected]
Douglas Clegg is my favorite new author. I just started reading his books with his new The Hour Before Dark and totally loved it. I went out and bought all his other books I could find and am starting to read them. Everyone should check him out, especiallyThe Hour Before Dark.

[email protected]
#1 - Pat Conroy
#2 - Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum series)

[email protected]
Jan Karon! Also, I often buy James Lee Burke soon after a new Dave Robicheaux mystery comes out, and the China Bayles series by Susan Wittig Albert.

[email protected]
Charles de Lint!

[email protected]
Lee Smith! I have read every one of her books, except the latest one. I love her writing, especially the rich characters from the South. She is outstanding! I can't wait to read her new one.

[email protected]
I ran out, bought, and read Blessings by Anna Quindlen the day it came out. B & N was unpacking the boxes as I arrived, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful, well-written novel.

[email protected]
Tom Clancy
Tony Hillerman
James Patterson

[email protected]
Barbara Delinsky and Nicholas Sparks!!!!

[email protected]
Pat Conroy. Maybe it's because I relate so well to his characters --- but I think that it is his writing style. I love all of his books.

[email protected]
Sharon Kay Penman
Susan Howatch
Ken Follett
Edward Rutherfurd

[email protected]
Doug Clegg. I have found a worthy author to watch the bookstores and web, with baited breath, for the next. The Hour Before Darkwas a spectacular read!

[email protected]
Ridley Pearson and Kathy Reichs.

[email protected]
I race to the store for two authors: my favorite author Margaret Atwood and the Stephanie Plum adventures by Janet Evanovich. Quite simply chalk and cheese but guaranteed great reads nonetheless.

[email protected]
John Grisham.

[email protected]
I have pre-ordered Quentin's by Maeve Binchy. Though I rarely read 'romance' novels (if they took the word 'and' out of Danielle Steele's vocabulary, she'd never write another line), I have loved every book Maeve Binchy has written, beginning with the first one I read, Light a Penny Candle. Her characters are so well drawn and so entirely believable that we who stumble through life, wondering if there's anyone out there like us, can rejoice in knowing that we're not alone!

[email protected]
I either pre-order or go racing to the bookstore for Janet Evanovich's 1 through "whatever the next number is" books. She can't write them fast enough for me.

[email protected]
I absolutely loved The Hour Before Dark by Douglas Clegg! I can't wait to see more from him!

[email protected]
Fiction: Jeffrey Archer
Non-fiction: Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg

[email protected]
Richard Armour. He's a new author. His debut book, The Habit, is a thriller, which takes the reader on a hunt through city dealing rooms, lap-dancing clubs and bars, for a serial rapist who attacks his prey in the back of a London taxi. I can't wait for his next book.

[email protected]
Ann Rule
John Grisham

[email protected]
Stephen Hunter and Larry McMurtry.

[email protected]
Nicholas Sparks.

[email protected]
I would have to say John Paul Allen. His first novel, Gifted Trust, is fantastic! When his next novel comes out, I'll be racing down to pick it up (can hardly wait!)

[email protected]
I have to read anything written by Adriana Trigiani, Kaye Gibbons, and, of course, Anna Quindlen.

[email protected]
The author whose new releases I always run out to buy the first day is James Patterson. I absolutely devour his books, and he has never let me down!

[email protected] Margaret Atwood
Alice Hoffman
David Guterson

Anyone one of them gets me running.

[email protected]
I will camp out in front of the bookstore for Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter books. November 26th, the release date for her latest, Into the Night, has been circled on my calendar for months. Other authors I buy on the release date include Janet Evanovich, John Grisham and, when she finally releases her next book, the wonderful Judith McNaught.

[email protected]
Richard Dawkins.

[email protected]
Elizabeth George is one whose works I always await with great anticipation -- rarely disappointed. Barbara Kingsolver is equally a favorite, as well as Anna Quindlen and Martha Grimes (in paperback).

[email protected]
Tom Clancy.

[email protected]
Mike Lupica.

[email protected]
Without a doubt, Stephen King.

[email protected]
They are Elizabeth Peters, Lynda Robinson, Laurien Berenson, Rett MacPherson, Rita Mae & Sneaky Pie Brown, Carolyn Hart, Toni L.P. Kelner, Leslie Meier, Valerie Wolzien, Lee Harris, Margaret Maron, Jane Haddam, Sharon K. Penman, Edward Rutherford, Margaret George, Pauline Gedge, Nancy Atherton, Max Byrd, Maan Myers, Tamar Myers, Sarah Shaber, Beverly Connor, Ann Dukthas, P.C. Doherty, Steven Saylor, Troy Soos, Anne Under-Wood Grant, Jean Auel, Tim Myers, Lauren Haney and, if she were still living, Anne George. There are other authors I like but not nearly as much as the ones above. I think my favorite is Anne Peters (a.k.a Barbara Michaels and Barbara Merts).

[email protected]
The books I usually try to get the first day they are released are JD Robb's (a.k.a Nora Roberts) Murder in...

[email protected]
Janet Evanovich. My daughter gives me the new one every Mother's Day, even though it usually isn't published until June. I'll also be pre-ordering the new Harry Potter. How's that for diversity!

[email protected]
The authors I rush to the bookstore for are:
Anne Rice
Richard Russo
Jonathan Carroll
Walter Mosley
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro
Arturo Perez-Reverts

[email protected]
Right now, Julie Smith.

[email protected]
Stephen King.

[email protected]
Any book by Jan Karon.

[email protected]
My must-have author is William Trevor.

[email protected]
First - Pat Conroy
Second - Jonathan Hull (I am awaiting his second book; Losing Julia was his first)

[email protected]
Geoffrey Kurland's My Own Medicine got an excellent review in the New York Times Book Review, Sunday October 13, 2002. I have read it, and it is very well written and educational (must reading for anyone in medicine) with a different view of a Doc as a patient.

[email protected]
I definitely run out to the store whenever Suzanne Brockmann, Linda Howard, and Judith McNaught have new books out.

[email protected]
Tom Clancy.

[email protected]
I cannot wait to get Donna Tartt's new novel The Little Friend and Maeve Binchy's Quentin's.

[email protected]
Anything by Danielle Steele is absolutely wonderful. I have read all of her books and I love each and every one of them.

[email protected]
Definitely Meg Cabot. Also known as Meggin Cabot, Jenny Carroll, and Patricia Cabot. She has got to be one of the best authors for today's generation.

[email protected]
John Grisham, Jan Karon, Anne Tyler, Fannie Flagg, Tony Hillerman, and Amy Tan.

[email protected]
Stephen King and Tom Clancy, for sure.
