Sue Erma Bombeck was my hero. My sons don't appreciate my little witticisms, advice or jokes at all. I should write them down. My mother always threatened to do that. Jane Haase Molly Ivins Rosalie I'm most like Adriana Trigiani because most people say I'm funny although she's hilarious. She and I are Italian with dark hair and eyes and we both love food. We are very proud of our heritage and family means a lot to us. Marsha Toy Engstrom, The Book Club Cheerleader I flatter myself to think (hope, wish) I am like Erma Bombeck. Before I knew who she was (could I even read then) my dad would tell me that I reminded him of her. Yes, my oldest sister was known as "The Smart One", my middle sister, "The Pretty One", so I had to be "The Funny One." I remember eschewing the handsome blond football player to go to the dance with the class clown. Funny just floats my boat. And I'm always willing to go overboard as well... Barbara Broberg Erma Bombeck Eileen Quinn Knight, Ph.D. I perceive myself as most like Jane Austen. She is independent yet a romantic. She is thoughtful and kind. She has a deep sense about who she is and relates to others in that vein. I did not have the personal struggles she did but I have had bumps in the road! Marjorie L. Carmony Erma Bombeck Lynn Laura Ingalls Wilder T Juliet Ashton from THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY Barbara Goettler I am one of a kind! Just like my mother was like no other. Rebecca Cox Mrs. Weasley Mary Ferwerda Gladys Taber Carol Crumpton Mrs. Weasley Linda M. Johnson Erma Bombeck Debi Helen Plum, Stephanie Plum's nerve-wracked mother in Evanovich's Plum series! Right down to the toddy in the kitchen cabinet! Dorothy Boyum Erma Bombeck Linda Miller Erma Bombeck T. Semidey Dolores Price in SHE'S COME UNDONE by Wally Lamb Myrna Pennisi Anna Quindlen Linda Nataya Alice Walker Sunnie Between Erma Bombeck and Nora Ephron Juanita Adamson All of the ones listed, plus more! Being a mother is a very tough (but very fulfilling) job. I pray that I am just a fraction as wonderful as my mother! Mary Q. Anna Quindlen. I see myself in the way she expresses herself; I felt an instant connection with her at a reading/signing event; and she, like me, is nuts about her kids! Liz Cranage Martha Stewart Judy Bradley Either Erma Bombeck or Mrs. Weasley Julie Caldwell I am a mix of Rosanne and Kris Kardashian --- crazy, funny, and in love with my daughters! Rosemary Simm Anne B. Davis, the housekeeper on "The Brady Bunch." Linda Ma Ingalls Karen Bader Mrs. Weasley Kathryn McNamara Mrs. Weasley Nora Zapata Miss Julia Sandra Hughes Pam Houston --- she loves the West, especially the mountains, the outdoors and all animals! Jean Kruse Any of the wives from THE FIRST WIVES CLUB. Bobbe Banks Salkowitz Marilyn French. When she died last week, I was once again thankful to her for changing my life when THE WOMEN'S ROOM came out. Until then, I had always felt so alone in my struggle of conflicting emotions and my place in society. Karen Erma Bombeck Nina I'd like to think I'm a little bit Martha Stewart, a little bit Ma Ingalls, and maybe a bit Candace Bushnell (I do like Cosmos...) with a smidge of Janet Evanovich. Mary Sylvester Erma Bombeck Marge Hodge Martha Stewart Lee When I think of loving mothers of literature, the two most memorable for me are Marmee and Caroline Ingalls. I've never been tested by the hardships these characters faced, but I live their quiet devotion and kindness. Susan Babendure I am definitely Mary Poppins! R. Honey Erma Bombeck! Alison Callaghan Mrs. Weasley |
