Released in 1945, it still resounds with humor and adventure down through the years. Although the writing is a tad bit "old fashioned" for today's taste, it does not fail to entertain and engage the reader in Ms. MacDonald's story of life on a chicken ranch in the coastal mountain range of Washington State.
