Sunny Bradley None. If I don't like it, I throw it over my shoulder. I never fake it. Jane I can honestly say I've never faked reading a book to look smart. I take that back -- I might have faked reading a textbook in grade school to impress a teacher. Sandi I have never faked reading a book! What's the use of that?
I only read books (fiction or non-fiction) because I want to or have to because I'm reading it for school. Linda M. Johnson Honestly I can't say "faked", but I tried to listen to both WALDEN and ULYSSES and decided that neither of them were best to listen to (while driving). Next time I attempt them, I will have the book --- maybe in conjunction with the CD. Carol Fox None. Kyla MOBY DICK and A TALE OF TWO CITIES (started reading both for high school English but just couldn't bring myself to get beyond halfway in each). Lita Jones When I read WAR AND PEACE in high school, I skipped all the battles. That is close to faking on a book. Deb Yorgensen THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH, when I was 11. John James Joyce's FINNEGAN'S WAKE --- I have worked through some of it several times, but it just cannot maintain my interest; it's just too hard of a book to enjoy. Gord Me? Of course not! Why, as I just explained to John Irving, while he was interrupting my conversation with Nora Roberts, people really shouldn't try and put on airs and pretend they know someone special when they don't! You'll have to excuse me now, Humphrey Bogart's ghost is due any minute and Michael Bublé just wandered off with Bogie's whiskey.
Ain't I bad? Barbara Adair Ulysses
Steppenwolf
Gulag Archipelago Julia L. Rule Plato's REPUBLIC April Lemesh WAR AND PEACE by Leo Tolstoy Dianne Mein Kampf The Art of War Pamela Dildine THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE...yawn! Debbie Johnson The Bible Lynn Stone War and Peace Malvina WAR AND PEACE by Leo Tolstoy Linda Bedell ANDREW JACKSON by H. W. Brands Juanita None --- I read for enjoyment, not for show! Kathy Vieira I would have to say that I never came close to finishing THE ILIAD in high school. I gave it the "100 page rule" and couldn't pick it back up again. Pam Cox All the Jane Austen books. Melinda Bandow Remembrance of Things Past The Brothers Karamazov Ulysses Cynthia Baxter Marcel Proust's IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME --- says a lot, doesn't it? Loretta Sanford WAR AND PEACE and THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV SarahBeth Carter A Tale of Two Cities Moby Dick
Sherri Atlas Shrugged War and Peace The Lord of the Rings Patricia Sweetland Ayn Rand's book, and right now I can't even remember the name of it...and I majored in English! LOL Elizabeth Vollbach Chaucer's CANTERBURY TALES in middle English.
I DID read them in modern English, but my college professor insisted we needed to read the middle English. I faked it and did much better than I would have. Tamara In high school there were a few in history class and science and math... Boring! nmc I can't fake anything!!! I learned long ago that invariably I am hoisted on my own petard when I try anything like this, so I just nod and listen! Jerry Johnson I've never faked reading a book. You might run into someone who has read the book and will make you look like the fool you are for faking it. Ann 7 Habits of Highly Effective people Debi DON QUIXOTE DE LA MANCHA by Cervantes. Okay, I really did read this...both volumes...in Spanish...twice. And took two college courses...and I teach a few of my favorite chapters! Ay! Karen Terry THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN is a hard book to read, so I faked it. Carolyn Plato's REPUBLIC Sandra Hughes Anna Karenina S Bird Crime and Punishment Imnot stupid WAR AND PEACE... and all the others I've really tried to read! |
