Lisa THE MANGLER OF MALIBU CANYOB by Jennifer Colt; EVERYTHING CHANGES by Jonathan Tropper; GARGANTUAN by Maggie Estep; earlier Amos Walker titles by Loren D. Estleman; earlier titles by Ian Rankin Maureen THE PEOPLE'S ACT OF LOVE, and a particular edition of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. Rory McIlvenna ANTIETAM ASSASSINS by Michael Kilian NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN by Cormac McCarthy Gordon Wilson EDGE OF EVIL by J. A. Jance THE ROMANOV PROPHECY, THE TEMPLAR LEGACY and THE ALEXANDRIA LINK by Steve Berry Several books by Andrew M Greeley
The list could go on. Our small town has a limited selection, so I shop for books when I go to the big city. Richard Smith A Dirty Job The God Delusion Ann Bowen I was looking for Jill Connor Brown's new Sweet Potato Queen novel, and though the computer at Borders said it was in the store, it was not.
I wanted to buy THE SUNDAY LIST OF DREAMS by Kris Radish (an author who I've talked to and adore ) at Target and they said they would not even be getting it in soon. AAAARRGGHH! Peggy Kincaid I can only have one example. I see the paperback edition of new author Alex Archer's latest book at Borders, but finding her previous books is a real chore --- not only her titles, but finding where they've put them. This happens often when I see a new author in paperback or sometimes in hardback and want previous books. Louise Anything by Brenda Novak. I was particularly looking for her last two, DEAD SILENCE and DEAD GIVEAWAY. Anne BACK FROM THE DEAD by Joan M. Cheever FREAKANOMICS by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner Ronna Lord 1. Earlier books in series by a new author that I have found and really liked. 2. Different Christian books are often hard to find anywhere but online. Cheryl Ford A TOWN CALLED ALICE by Neville Shute - I looked for this book for years before I finally found a copy. Wanda Stevens The last time? WAMPYRY --- I still haven't found the book.
Pattie Berryhill I find all my books at my local library. I reserve 10 at a time on their website. When they come in, they call me. Irene T Yeates International authors' books are sometimes difficult to find locally: Robert Goddard (NEVER GO BACK), Christophe Dufosse (SCHOOL'S OUT), and Anna Ralph's first novel (FLOATING ISLAND) are examples. Powells is a good source for these, but not always. I just read Vida's LET THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ERASE YOUR NAME, which our local library ordered at my request. While reading it, I learned about CLARISSA, by Samuel Richardson, which I now want to read. Fortunately, Penguin Classics does keep up with these obscure titles. But, have been looking for a new copy of Susan Fromberg Schaeffer's THE MADNESS OF A SEDUCED WOMAN unsuccessfully. Even the author suggested I simply buy a used copy. I think a reprint is in order!! Joan Books by British authors, like Marcia Willett, Katie Fforde, etc. Donna KILLER INSTINCT by Joseph Finder Alexis THE BOOK THIEF Mysteries by a British author named Ironside Trez THE ART OF LOVING by Erich Fromm Someone Jewish from Myrtle Beach Unfortunately, it always seems like it is the Jewish books. But, what do you expect when you live in the South... I was looking for INTUITION, GOLDEN COUNTRY, and DISOBEDIENCE. Lynn Literary novels, even those that have won awards such as National Book Award or Booker Prize. Sandi Lewis DIE A LITTLE by Megan Abbott BABY SHARK by Robert Fate SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR by Fred Vargas THE HARROWING by Aleandra Sokoloff RAVEN BLACK by Ann Cleeves PAPER WOMAN by Suzanne Adair Cheryl Caldwell I am looking for TITLE DEEDS: GROWING UP IN MACBETH'S CASTLEand THE PALACE DIARIES. Elaine Gutenstein Most books by M. J. Rose and Janet Evanovich... Kathy Vieira The Story of Lucy Gault The Professor's Daughter The Memory Of Running Bob Coghill Anything by Nancy Holder. I did find her books at a large used bookstore, Title Wave in Anchorage, Alaska. Krishna Anything by Linda Fairstein, and older books by Sue Grafton. Mary Who could say? Always, I leave a bookstore thinking, "what did I go in for?" I don't have a problem "every" time, walking out with too many books. Trish Thomas Anything about gypsies. I was looking in London for books on gypsy caravans and canal boats, and found very little --- all I could find were Shire books (a very nice set of inexpensive pamphlets) and one book on canal boat people, which I bought. But, I thought England would be rolling with choices. Melinda Keen Mud In My Heart Lea Ann Morris I wanted 4 copies of THE DANCE OF THE DISSIDENT DAUGHTER by Sue Monk Kidd, but my independent book store had but 1 copy. They ordered the others and I soon had them. Any time they do not have a book I want to buy, they order it for me and call me when it arrives. I'd rather wait for it at the independent store than find it on the shelf in a chain and/or big box store. Jane Haase Making Friends With Black People Teach Like Your Hair's On Fire Crippen In My Blood Carol Trainor ISLANDS IN THE STREAM by Ernest Hemingway AN AUDIENCE OF CHAIRS by Joan Clark Terry Leibel Originally, our local chain bookstore didn't carry any books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. After special ordering many of their titles and "spreading the word" on these talented authors, my favorite bookstore now has an entire shelf full of their novels. Diane K. RASPUTIN'S DAUGHTER by Robert Alexander WE ARE ALL WELCOME HERE by Elizabeth Berg PLACES IN THE DARK by Thomas H. Cook THE STOLEN CHILD by Keith Donahue LEONARDO'S SWANS by Karen Essex SKINNER'S DRIFT by Lisa Fugard THE SECRET RIVER by Kate Grenville WAVE by Wil Marra BLACK SWAN GREEN by David Mitchell THE DEVIL'S FEATHER by Minette Walters DARK LIGHT by Randy Wayne White Jen Linda Fairstein's new book, so I ordered it from Amazon. Michelle Stein Sandra Dallas is one of my favorite authors, and a few years back I could find no copies of her books in my local B&N. I think they do carry some now. I think both big chains Barnes and Nobles and Borders are both way too slim on their variety of young adult titles. Michelle K. Anything by George Chesbro.
