Jana Harver SCARECROW by Michael Connelly Mary Roberts FAMILY TREE by Ann Tyler I feel this is a book, even though it's fiction, that should be on every counselor's shelf. Bea The White Tiger Jean Hogue THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett Ashley Kemp Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Debbie Miller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Rosalie Sambuco The Help Coral Harrison THE CHILI QUEEN by Sandra Dallas Coral Harrison The Guersney Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society Jerri Patton THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE and JULIE & JULIA Julie Machtemes THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett was a great and read with an important story to tell and has been sitting on the bestseller list all summer. I think at very least, it was the "sleeper" of the summer of 2009. Barbara Clark THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett is my pick. This book rates as one of my all-time favorites. Alexis Cotterell The Weight of Silence Gaye Definitely THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett. She writes with great "voice" and touches on Civil Rights, inequities, and prejudices. Not afraid to see through another's eyes she ventures further and touches on the love, care and affection that also made up the lives of three in Jackson Mississippi during the 1960s. I'm giving it to everyone I know! Judy Jones THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett. This book takes place in my lifetime, yet at that time I was not aware of the level of segregation in that part of the South. The book is also a thriller of a sort and left the reader to imagine the future of some of these characters. Cheryl Huck The Help Helen STILL ALIVE by Lisa Genova will be the book that I remember. I read it as a book club read but since have bought copies for friends. It may be a fiction but the facts in the book about the life of someone going through Alzheimer's was really heartbreaking and real. Carol The Fixer Upper Lisa Hawks The Hunger Games Shirley Smith Pat Conroy's SOUTH OF BROAD Carolyn Stewart The Help Diana Huey The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo F Tessa Bartels THE ANGEL'S GAME by Carlos Ruiz Zafón Teresa Mcallister The Help Janet Cross RAIN GODS by James Lee Burke Karen Stigers THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN or THE HELP. Barb Cammack THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH by Ken Follett --- I thought I wouldn't like it, but ended up not being able to put it down. Mary Q. THE HELP --- no question! I haven't read it (yet) but have heard nothing but positive comments. My own personal summer favorite was HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET. Albert INHERENT VICE by Thomas Pynchon Sharon The Help Lynn Clifford The Help Katherine Stephens FINGER LICKIN' FIFTEEN by Janet Evanovich Sherman Hughes Probably the most remembered book of the 2009 summer is THAT OLD CAPE MAGIC by Richard Russo. ck THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows Stephanie Wilson Still Alice Kathy THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett Judy Oswood It would have to be THE HELP by Kate Stockett. I have recommended it to dozens of people, and it has been solid on the NewYork Times Best Seller list most of the summer. Eileen Quinn Knight, Ph.D. LITTLE BEE by Chris Cleave Debbie Without a doubt, SOUTH OF BROAD. Love. That. Book. This story inspired Tom Clancy to write the book THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. It was chock-full of Russian history and was a very exciting read. Becky Haase THE he Help by Kathryn Stockett Jean Kruse I keep hearing about THE HELP. I read it at the beginning of summer but is hearing about it more and more.
