My book resolution is to TRY to resist the temptation to buy more
books before I've read at least one book from my HUGE TBR (to be read)
pile! I have quite a backlog of books I've bought that I want to read,
and I keep buying more! So I'm going to try to catch up on some
of the ones I bought quite a
while ago and still haven't read yet.

As for my reading resolutions for 2001...I started a "library" list
on my computer of books I own, which is now around 300 or so. There
are about 200 on the "to be read" pile, yet I still buy more!
I would like to be able to read a book a week, but I'd settle for
reading two a month. I'm a slow reader, but I think that if an author
puts his or her heart and soul into their work, then a good book should
not be rushed, but enjoyed.

In 2001 I plan to read at least 4 or 5 classic fiction books -- i.e.,
ones I might have read in high school but didn't. Currently in my
"to be read" pile are titles like OLIVER TWIST, "LORD OF THE FLIES,
ANIMAL FARM, and "THE JUNGLE. This is a resolution I'm really looking
forward to keeping!

Hi! My resolutions include: reading whatever suits me (any genre)
anywhere I find the material; to finish reading at least 30 novels
or new nonfiction; to read over 80% of the bookreporter.com reviews
and not just file them away!

Hi! My reading resolution is to vary my literary diet and not exist
on the same diet of quick read suspense. I still love them but need
to stretch my mind and soul. I just began IMAGINE edited by Marianne
Williamson and subtitled, What America could be in the 21st Century--Visions
of a Better Future from Leading American Thinkers such as Ed Ayres,
Caroline Myss, Deepac
Chopra, James Redfield, Sarah Ben Breathnach, and others. Very thought
provoking.

Last year I resolved to keep a books read journal. I successfully
kept that resolution. I'm resolving to do the same this year. Only
I am adding the date it was finished and an up arrow for a book I
liked and would recommend. Hey, I like to start small...

I will try to read a balanced selection of books. Since I have a strong
preference for literary fiction and mysteries, I read too little nonfiction,
science fiction, and anything else outside of these categories. I
know I'm missing some good stuff, so I need to break out of my mold.
I also want to read some classics, such as MIDDLEMARCH and VANITY
FAIR, tackle some books
that come in a series, such as Dorothy Dunnett's "Niccolo" saga, and
finally, not be too impatient waiting for the next Harry Potter book.

I just retired on Halloween. Been busy (as everyone else has) with
holiday preparations. Have thousands of books (bookshelves in
every room and more stacked up waiting for new bookshelf) (been reading
and collecting all of my life, still have my Curlytops and Nancy Drew
books) of which I have read (and some re-read) about half. My
New Year's resolution is to turn off the TV, stay off of the computer
more and READ, READ, READ. As my favorite sweatshirt says "SO
MANY BOOKS, SO LITTLE TIME". Thanks.
