Rockwell Stensrud is the author of Newport: A Lively Experiment, 1639-1969 (Redwood Library and Athenaeum; April 2007).

Stensrud is a novelist and film scriptwriter with extensive journalism experience in television and print media. He was the senior producer, researcher and writer for an ABC News series The History of the Eighties, 10 one-hour documentary videotapes on major news and cultural events of the years 1980 to 1989. He also wrote and produced the documentary James Cagney for the A&E "Biography" series and American Women of Achievement, a 10-part series that aired on cable television stations. As a writer for Contact Presse Images, he wrote magazine articles while traveling on assignment with award-winning photojournalists David Burnett, Eddie Adams, and others.
