Biography

Patience Bloom

In addition to owning and operating this blog, Patience Bloom is a senior editor at Harlequin Books and focuses specifically on Harlequin Romantic Suspense, which gives her  full license to indulge in her love of the thriller genre and all things suspense. On an average day, she will watch a sweet romantic comedy and follow it up with an episode of "Criminal Minds" or "Snapped." Her work is the perfect mesh of romance and suspense, though she works on many different lines from Christian and historical romances to her home line. She has been in the field since 1997. Originally from the Northeast, she has lived in France, Connecticut, Ohio and New Mexico and now resides in New York City.  She has a master’s degree in French literature, which hasn’t really helped with her work as an editor. In addition to editing, her real-life story of editing romance and marrying her high school’s popular class clown, ROMANCE IS MY DAY JOB, will be coming out in February 2014 from Dutton Books.

As a teen, Patience Bloom fell in love with Harlequin novels and imagined her life would turn out just like the heroines’ on the page. Years later, she moved to New York and found her dream job: editing romances for Harlequin. Bloom became an expert when it came to fictional love stories, but her dating life remained uninspired. Then one day, a real-life chance at romance made her wonder if what she’d been writing and editing all those years might be true.
