Biography

Debbie Taylor Williams

Debbie Taylor Williams is founder and president of Hill Country Ministries. She has been teaching the Bible for over 30 years and has authored numerous Bible studies. Though God continues to expand the borders of her ministry, Williams has never pursued the spotlight. Each step she has taken down the ministry path He prepared for her has been guided by one purpose --- to help others know His life-changing power.

Williams can hardly remember a time when she didn’t love the Bible. “I discovered as a teenager that the best counsel I could receive was from His Word, and it was the best thing I could share with my friends when they came to me for advice,” she recalls. “As I grew to love and understand more, teaching the Bible just made sense.”

Upon graduating from Texas Tech University, Williams and her husband, Keith, became active participants in their local church, teaching college freshmen and young adults. After the birth of the couple’s two children, Williams saw her little ones as most important and chose to focus her teaching ministry on them, a decision she has never regretted. The family moved to Kerrville, TX, and she satisfied her thirst for God’s Word by joining the local Bible Study Fellowship. Williams’s natural gift for teaching the Bible was undeniable, and the BSF leadership took notice. When her youngest child entered kindergarten a few years later, she accepted the position of BSF Teaching Leader, leading a class of 450 members.

Williams’s passion for Christ is evident in her energetic style and insightful teaching. Having been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 29, she brings spiritual maturity and biblical depth to her audiences --- women of all ages, backgrounds, and denominations. When her ministry with BSF was completed, Williams was asked to teach a class for women at her own church. This midweek Bible study is interdenominational, open to the community, and has included as many as 350 participants.

It soon became apparent that the class preferred Williams’s own studies to any of the other curriculum she used --- and her writing ministry was born. Each of the series she prepares for the class is the pilot for a study that is destined for publication. The church’s TV ministry requested permission to broadcast her lessons, and people began to use her teaching in their home study groups. In 1999, she founded the non-profit Hill Country Ministries so she would be better equipped to "spread the Word and love of God". Through this organization, God has provided teaching opportunities in places as diverse as the Texas Hill Country, Hawaii, and Dubai.

In addition to her numerous Bible studies, Williams has written several books, including IF GOD IS IN CONTROL, WHY DO I HAVE A HEADACHE?, PRAY WITH PURPOSE, LIVE WITH PASSION, and TRUSTING GOD’S PEOPLE…AGAIN, co-authored with Blake Coffee. She is currently working on a study of 1 Corinthians for women entitled DANGEROUS ATTRACTIONS. Williams leads retreats and conferences and serves as a keynote speaker at events throughout the United States. Her teaching ministry is broadcast on "Power Points", a local television program. DVD copies of the program are available through Hill Country Ministries. In addition, she has been a television guest on "Life Today with James and Betty Robison", "At Home Live! with Chuck and Jenni", "Atlanta Live", and "Friends and Neighbors with Kim Gravel".

Williams and her husband, Keith, have been married for 32 years and reside in the beautiful countryside of Kerrville, TX. The couple has two adult children, Taylor and Lauren, and a son-in-law, Chris. For more information about Debbie Taylor Williams or Hill Country Ministries, visit www.hillcountryministries.org.
