When the secrets were revealed, the book presented how strong family ties and relationships can be. Having such negative experiences with their mother, you wonder how you would be able to grow as a person with such negativity and rejection. SECRETS OF THE TULIP SISTERS were very inspiring for the love they continued to give to family, friends and spouses. They were able to move on after their mother moved on. What an inspiration learned for all of us!

How would you describe this book to a friend?: The book was very motivating in establishing that family is forever. Mistakes from the past can be forgiven, but be honest and truthful. True love involved sacrifices. It is never too late to say you’re sorry. You can’t always change people and have them love you.

I am a Susan Mallery reader. I read this book over a rainy, cold weekend. I loved the book. First, I love that I knew the author. Second, the title made me think of spring on this cold weekend. Third, I loved the cover art. I could tell that big, old house held secrets. The storyline didn't disappoint. It was about family secrets and family quarrels. It had believable characters and snappy dialogue. I got lost in the story and didn't want it to end. I could see pieces of my sister and me in the book. I especially liked the theme of forgiveness.

I enjoyed SECRETS OF THE TULIP SISTERS as a steamy romance with a fun cast. All of the main characters were well developed, both male and female. I liked that none of them were perfect, which made them feel like old friends. They suffered from insecurity, envy, jumping to conclusions, and all of the other normal human emotions. The way they worked through romantic feelings and family bonds, as well as working through their own insecurities, made for an enjoyable read.

When her estranged sister Olivia returns home for the summer, Kelly and Olivia learn how to renew family bonds with each other and their father, and together they deal with their mother’s difficult personality. Add in the romantic interests of the two sisters and their father Jeff, plus Olivia and Kelly overcoming their insecurities, and this was an enjoyable romantic read. My parents married at a very young age and they both eventually remarried. Overall, my father remarried three times. I have a lot of half siblings that I have had to get to know in the most nontraditional ways. I was able to relate to the relationship between Kelly and Olivia as sisters. Sometimes you are part of a family you don't completely understand or know enough about. I feel this story line really resonated on this with its humor and emotions especially among their parents and their past lovers. It was heartwarming to see how much they discover about themselves as women and most importantly as sisters when they come together as adults back home. I am eager to share this book among the ladies of my own book club. They are my second family of sisters. They are special to me because unlike the family you are born into, I chose them to be a part of my family. I love my half siblings. I also find that as the eldest among them I am still trying to figure them out as I am sure they are also wondering what planet I am from. That is what you call family. You don't have everything but together you have it all.

How would you describe this book to a friend?: It is a story about the relationships women have as mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. The story is surrounded by bonds of family friendship, past loves, present loves and future loves. It is basically where the need for friendship takes place among the family you have, the family you do not know, the family you learn to love, the family that helps you grow and ultimately, the family you come to realize needs you as much as you need them.

Even though I found some of the dialogue to be a bit stilted, overall, I enjoyed the book very much. The characters were relatable, though not as well developed as they could have been.
