What other authors do you usually read?
I love a large variety of writers, with my all-time favorite being Toni Morrison. I enjoy Jodi Picolt, Audrey Niffenegger and Anna Quindlen for a day at the pool. When I have a weekend that is child- and mate-free, I always love to have a bottle of wine and read something such as THE SCANDALOUS SUMMER OF SISSY LEBLANC by Loraine Despres.
What did you think of DUMBFOUNDED?
I very much enjoyed reading DUMBFOUNDED. It was a book that both brought you to tears with compassion and made you about wet your pants at the same time. I loved his light take on the situation, which makes one realize that even the perfect life is not perfect, and in the end, material items really are not what matters most.
Would you ever read a future book by Matt Rothschild?
Most definitely!
Enid from Northbrook, IL
What other authors do you usually read?
I usually read a variety of genres, but mostly fiction. I love Elizabeth George, Faye Kellerman, Louise Murphy, Daniel Silva, Jenna Blum, Jodi Picoult and Chris Bohjalian.
What did you think of DUMBFOUNDED?
I usually don't read memoirs, but I could not put this book down. I loved Matthew. I found his coming-of-age story poignant and funny. Poor Matthew, with the weight of the world on his shoulders! Dealing with loving but eccentric older grandparents and an absent mother is certainly a full plate. No wonder he was a bit overweight. As he matures, he becomes a thoughtful, caring young man, who does finally reconcile responsibility and love.
Would you ever read a future book by Matt Rothschild?
I definitely would read another book by him.
Julie from Hellertown, PA

What other authors do you usually read?
I usually read mysteries and thrillers with some humorous novels thrown in for balance. Some of my favorite authors are David Baldacci, Lee Child, Richard North Patterson, Carl Hiaasen, and Lisa Scottoline.
What did you think of DUMBFOUNDED?
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Not only was it entertaining, but I found myself developing empathy for the main character and grimacing when he experienced something painful. I also admired his tenacity in dealing with what life brought him.
Would you ever read a future book by Matt Rothschild?
I would absolutely read something else written by Matt Rothschild. I finished the book wondering how the author's life is today.
Gordon from Quesnel, BC
What other authors do you usually read?
I read everyone. Some of my favourites are Jeffrey Archer, Nora Roberts, Lee Child, Maeve Binchy (I'm a sucker for anything Irish!), Dee Davis, Morgan Llywelyn, John Grisham, James Patterson, Perri O'Shaughnessy and lots more. I first found out about many of them through Bookreporter.com.
What did you think of DUMBFOUNDED?
I found the book to be both interesting and confusing as the author bounces around emotions and unresolved feelings toward his quite unique family. When a book takes a reader from pain and anger to excitement and joy, you really need to have a strong story to tie all the emotion together.
Would you ever read a future book by Matt Rothschild?
Yes, he had some great moments in DUMBFOUNDED and, in my opinion, if he could control the mood swings (which are understandable when writing about family), then he has the makings of a terrific storyteller. I loved the part at the end when he is with the kids. That showed me a lot of who Matt is.
